The Andake ultralight backpacking tent is exactly what the budget friendly shopper is wanting, an ultralight (sub 2 pound) tent at a sub $100 cost! This tent fits the needs of anyone looking for a tent that can take you anywhere you would want to travel.

It is a trekking pole tent which means you will need a single pole to set up the tent as it doesn't come with tent poles. If you are looking for some there are a few good options but we suggest these Foxelli Trekking Poles for a good cost and weight!

Special Features (Pros) of the Andake Ultralight Backpacking Tent

Excellent Cost - This has to be stated that the tent is incredibly inexpensive to its weight and performance and everyone who left comments said there is nothing of the kind within this bracket of cost.

Fast Drying - When rain and weather hit this tent dries quickly to pack up without holding all the moisture.

Drawbacks (Cons) for the Andake Ultralight Backpacking Tent

Trekking Pole Setup - This definitely was apparent in a lot of the concerns that people hadn't taken time to learn how to do a trekking pole setup. This is not a skill to learn while hiking, make sure to practice first!

What Amazon Customers Have to Say About the Andake Ultralight Backpacking Tent

I have bought and tested st least 6 inexpensive tents, this one is made for ultralight hiking so it is not made to be spacious, it's made to offer weather and bug protection at minimal weight. Other tents with similar designs cost a minimum 2x and up more than this one.

There are a couple of easy tune ups I'll be doing but I am impressed with the quality stakes, textile and waterproofing for a fully loaded weight of on my scale 23.5 OZ straight out of the box. You do need to use your own trekking pole or sturdy measured stick.

My mat is 78 x 25 and fits fine with extra room at head and foot, the vestibule has enough room to cook or store gear. The entry exit is the entire long side of the tent so no crawling on hands and knees.

Update: after using it for 3 weeks now its been up every night I can say this is as good as any 1 man UL tent you can buy have been through 4 rain storms and 3 snow storms and stayed dry the entire time with 0 condensation it is well ventilated and waterproof.

The changes I am making are simple, Turning the cinch strap that holds the hiking pole into a cup by sewing another piece of webbing onto it and putting the guy out from the mesh inner tent through the mesh on the rear of the fly to tension the mesh tent ridge taught. tent is usable as is but I always tweak gear to how I want it.

Well - It is light, bright green, and sil-nylon. Packs up in a bag built into it the size of a soda can. It takes on atmospheric moisture like any sil-nylon pitched near a waterfall. I changed the pole hook and added teeny tiny electric cord velcro tie wraps to lift the netting up to the fly and it was too close for me.

Nice thick bathtub floor but I was able to push it out when wiggling around on my air mattress. I am a real wriggler. Ample room under the door fly for pack and shoes.I had to learn to pitch a tent with my hiking pole - which I had never done. Pitched it and seam sealed ALL seams and sewing.

So light and small to carry. Just what I was looking for. I needed an ultralight tent that keeps the bugs away. Light sleeper here and don't want to worry about bugs and wanted the ability to sit up when I can't sleep. This is the lightest one I could find in this price range. Come the think of it I haven't found anything lighter with netting and vestibule and rain-fly!

Bottom Line

If you are wanting to ensure an ultralight setup on an amazingly tight budget then you should jump on this tent. I would definitely put in time with trekking poles in your yard assembling the tent until you are comfortable.

There isn't a large amount of tents within this weight class that will fit the needs of ultralight and ultra budget. I have purchased this for me to carry on my next Lone Star Hiking Trail thru-hike which is about 7 days in length.
